The Farsi glossary is a project I worked on for the Anderson Language and Technology Center at the University of Colorado Boulder. This project was developed for a Farsi professor at the University who had written a Farsi to English and English to Farsi glossary called “Persian: Here and Now,” and needed an easily searchable web version of his work.

This project offered an interesting UI/UX challenge due to the fact that English is a left-to-right language, while Farsi is a right-to-left language. The interface, therefore, needed to switch between an LTR layout and an RTL layout.

My part in this project was designing a user interface for the site, and coding the front end of the site using mostly Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

The website features a functional Farsi keyboard to make it easy to search the database when in Farsi-to-English mode.

It also features audio recordings of each word in the database to make it easy to learn new words.

A toggle at the top allows you to switch between the Introductory and Intermediate Farsi Glossary books written by the professor.

Another toggle allows you to switch between an English-to-Farsi search, and a Farsi-to-English search
