Overview

Support functionality for the Oxford Learning Link platform

The goal of this project was to design and build support features for Oxford University Press’s Oxford Learning Link platform. This platform provides digital textbook resources to students and instructors for higher education book titles.

The platform previously had no consolidated place for users to access FAQ’s, help, or contact information.

My role included generating low and high fidelity mockups in collaboration with stakeholders and product managers, in addition to building the end product with my team.

The main support page features links to common FAQ questions, in addition to linking support sub-pages for product-specific and categorized FAQ’s.

Support sub-pages provide expandable FAQ’s grouped into categories.

Project: Enhancing Support Functionality for Oxford Learning Link

Role: UI Designer & Front-end Developer

Skills: HTML, CSS, Handlebars.js, Node.js, Wireframing, Prototyping

Context: Collaborative effort with the Oxford University Press development team

Overview: The Oxford Learning Link platform is the digital gateway to academic excellence, providing students and instructors with vital textbook resources for higher education. This project aimed to elevate the user experience by introducing comprehensive support features that were previously absent from the platform, such as FAQs, help resources, and contact information.

Challenges: Before our intervention, users struggled to find essential support resources, leading to higher usage of the contact form, creating more work for the support team. By adding common questions and support resources, we aimed to reduce the dependency on contact with the support team. The absence of a centralized support hub created frustration and hindered the learning experience.

My Contribution: As a UI Designer and Front-end Developer on this project, I played a pivotal role in addressing these challenges. Here's how:

Design Phase:

  • Collaborated closely with stakeholders and product managers to understand user needs and pain points.

  • Created both low and high fidelity mockups, ensuring that the design resonated with our target audience.

  • Designed a user-friendly main support page that serves as a gateway to common FAQs and support sub-pages.

Development Phase:

  • Leveraged my skills in HTML, CSS, Handlebars.js, and Node.js to bring the design to life.

  • Implemented expandable FAQ sections on support sub-pages, logically grouped into categories for easy navigation.

  • Ensured seamless integration of the new support features into the Oxford Learning Link platform.

Outcome: The project culminated in a robust and user-centric support system that enhances the overall user experience. Users can now effortlessly access FAQs, find answers to their questions, and receive the support they need, ultimately facilitating a more productive and engaging learning journey.

Conclusion: By successfully bridging the gap in support functionality, we have contributed to the continued success of the Oxford Learning Link platform. This project exemplifies my ability to not only design intuitive user interfaces but also to transform those designs into functional, user-focused solutions. It's a testament to my expertise in UI/UX design and front-end development, as well as my commitment to creating impactful digital experiences.
